Mr Wilfred Loo, FSIP

Wilfred Loo has over 26 years of experience in urban planning and design practice, both in the public and private sectors in Singapore and internationally. With JURONG Consultants, Wilfred is involved in strategic industrial positioning studies, urban planning and urban design of townships, special economic zones, industrial parks, specialized parks, residential, commercial, institutional, recreational and waterfront developments in projects in Singapore, South East Asia, China, India, South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria, United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Russia and Kazakhstan. In the public sector, with HDB, he was involved in master planning projects, such as the then new waterfront township, Punggol 21, as well as, redevelopment planning of old estates such as, Guillemard Estate, Marine Parade Estate, and MacPherson Estate, and matured townships, such as Toa Payoh, Ang Mo Kio, Bedok and Geylang. Whilst in the HDB, he was tasked with the formulation of Development Guide Plans, in conjunction with URA, for the estate and town developments for which he was involved with. Wilfred  graduated with a double major in Urban Studies and Environmental Design and Planning (cum Laude) from the University of Wisconsin, USA in 1984. He was then awarded scholarship to pursue graduate studies and received a Masters in Community Planning (Urban Planning and Design) from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, in 1987. Whilst with the HDB, he also received training in City Planning in Tokyo, Japan, under the sponsorship of the Government of Japan and in Planning Policy in Haifa, Israel, under the sponsorship of the Government of Israel. Wilfred is also active in the planning community in Singapore. He has served as Council Member with the Singapore Institute of Planners and past Chairman of its Membership Committee. He is also called upon periodically to assist in public agency programmes to brief and conduct workshops for foreign delegations on urban planning, as well as, speak at various international forums and conferences in Singapore and abroad.
